Sheryl has been in the Insurance and Risk Management business for over 20 years. She began her career with John S. Dunn & Son, lnc. specializing in apartments. Later she worked as an Account Executive for Willis and specialized in Retail and Real Estate. From Willis she went to Weingarten Realty Investors where she was Director of Risk Management for 10 years.

Sheryl was President of RIMS (Risk and Insurance Management Society) in 2001 and under her direction the chapter competed for and won every award in every category bestowed by the National Rims Council. She was Chairman of the insurance committee for NAREIT (National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts) for many years. Sheryl was on the team that designed the NAREIT pollution policy which has become the “Gold Standard” for all other pollution policies. Sheryl has been a speaker numerous times at RIMS national convention, and has been a speaker at RIMS locally and at ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers). Sheryl has also testified in Austin for Tort Reform. Sheryl joined GEM in 2003.
